Our journey so far
We are a studio with a mission. Over the past 21 years, we have reinvented ourselves again and again. Starting out as a design studio focused on branding, we have grown into a design studio that develops the healthiest & most sustainable concepts.
2002-2007
On September 1, 2002, Just Design was founded in Amersfoort on the van Asch van Wijkstraat. A creative brand agency that mainly takes on regional assignments, developing brands from corporate identities to campaigns.
2007-2014
Maurits Tofohr starts as a partner and the agency decides to focus on niche concept development for the hospitality industry.
New clients are mainly corporate caterers, hospitality entrepreneurs. In 2008, Jan Willem van de Sande also joins and the strategy is accelerated. The name Just Design is replaced by enbiun, upside down unique, because it is no longer just design but also increasingly strategic consulting and concepting.
In 2010, own hospitality formulas Hartig and Curryup! Launched in the old office.
2014-2018
Time to move office closer to our primary target group and living place of 80% of employees. Enbiun moves toAmsterdam and starts in HNK Houthavens. The agency increasingly works directly for corporates and larger SMEs.
Here the agency specializes more and more and expands the scope from a company restaurant to total hospitality or work concepts.
2018-2022
The agency is growing and needs a bigger studio. We move to the iconic Kraanspoor building in Amsterdam North.
A lot happens in this period. At the request of the market, the agency develops its own corporate catering concept, Join Program. Assignments become more complex and the team larger.
Covid has the effect of removing mainly the catering clients but also of creating a partnership for Join Program with the Vermaat Group.
In order to be flexible in uncertain times, it is decided to give up the office in Kraanspoor and look for a new place that better suits our ambitions.
2022
Enbiun becomes Powerplant and expands its business to developing whole work environments. We want to help the market really accelerate sustainability and challenge the office status quo.
We believe that a workplace concept is essential for companies and that it goes beyond a cool interior. It has to align with the core business of the company, represent the brand and fit the culture of the staff.
As of November 1, 2022, Powerplant will move back into its own studio after 2 years.

Powerplant started in 2002 under the name Just Design as a brand development and graphic design studio. In 2007, the focus shifted to the integrated development of hospitality concepts and the name was changed to enbiun. In 2022, the name was changed again to Powerplant, a creative studio for developing work concepts where, in addition to interior design, hospitality and branding are an important element in our approach.
Powerplant's mission is to develop healthy work environments that energize. With an eye for the planet and healthy food and drink. The name Powerplant represents in 1 word all our ambitions.
